Simplify Your Science

My 2 cents….

Dear Scientist job aspirants,
Don’t assume that your recruiter is a Scientist, too!
We understand that you are very passionate about your research and you want to share
it with potential employers, in great technical detail. But, please be cognizant of the fact
that the recruiter, who is meant to connect you to the employer, may not be a technical
expert and hence may not necessarily comprehend your advanced research and
scientific jargon.
Therefore, please do write what your research is about, in layman’s language for the
consultant to understand. You could write this in a couple of lines in the summary at the
beginning of your resume or if you want this document to remain technical, you could
write this in the covering letter or in the email that you have addressed to the recruiter.
This will make it easier to position your candidature in the appropriate forum. Win-
Win!
